Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Schedule: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM | Monday – Friday
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead to oversee operations at our client's new state-of-the-art baking facility.
This role focuses on maximizing equipment efficiency, minimizing downtime, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM),
Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), and Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO) to support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
The Maintenance Lead will also mentor a team of 12–15 technicians while collaborating cross-functionally to drive operational excellence.
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Collaborate with contract OEMs and millwright contractors for specialized weekend maintenance and equipment servicing.
- Monitor and maintain mechanical systems including gears, bearings, shafts, belts, and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, and motors using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Oversee repair, replacement, and alignment of motors, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and other machinery.
Electrical & Controls:
- Troubleshoot AC/DC motors, motor control circuits, and electrical power distribution systems.
- Perform fault diagnostics and repairs using multimeters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment including wiring, insulation, and motor efficiency.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Assist with basic PLC programming and troubleshooting
, reading ladder logic, inputs/outputs, and sensor diagnostics (Siemens, Allen-Bradley). - Support basic operation of industrial robotic systems (FANUC, KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots).
Process & Continuous Improvement:
- Implement reliability-based maintenance strategies to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action for equipment failures.
- Maintain documentation, maintenance logs, and compliance records.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance and 2 years in a leadership role
. - Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer-based maintenance applications.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English (Bilingual English/Spanish a plus).
Working Conditions &
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily on-site with some office work.
- Shifts may include 12-hour continental or weekend rotations.
- Ability to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Regularly lift/move up to 10 lbs; frequently up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to heat, cold, confined spaces, noise, greases, oils, dust, and equipment hazards (grinding, cutting, welding, compressed air).
