2nd Shift Machine Operator

Set-up, adjust, and operate mills and lathes to perform progressive machining operations on a variety of standardized work requiring close tolerances and finish requirements. The role involves working with standard turning and planing machines, boring and drilling machines, grinders, and more. While speeds, feeds, operational sequences, and tooling are generally prescribed, the Machinist may select or vary them to accommodate materials, conditions, or variations in standard procedures.

Responsibilities also include grinding tools and setting up machines for operation by others. The work is based on drawings, specifications, and job layouts, utilizing a variety of precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of shop practices and machining fundamentals is essential, acquired through vocational training and experience. The work will be subject to process and final inspection.

Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, adjust, and operate mills and lathes.
  • Perform progressive machining operations on standardized work with close tolerances and finish requirements.

Essential

Skills:

  • Ability to set up and check routine programs.
  • Operate manual, automatic, or semiautomatic numerically controlled machine tools.
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices and techniques.
  • Experience with machine operation and tooling.
  • Additional training on numerically controlled machine tools.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Vocational training in shop practices and machining fundamentals.
  • General knowledge of machine shop practices and techniques.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
