Position: Quality Technician (2nd Shift)

As a Quality Technician (2nd Shift), you will perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of in-process batches, raw materials, and finished products for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development.

You will report to the Quality Supervisor III and will be onsite at the Oak Creek, WI plant. PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k + retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.

Hours for 2nd shift:
Monday-Friday, start time between 2PM to 4PM working an 8.5-hour shift

Responsibilities:
  • Verify formula and component specifications on batch tickets.
  • Set up, adjust, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as paint guns, mixers, viscometers, chemical balances, pH meters, gloss meters, solids analyzer, spectrophotometer, and other equipment.
  • Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
  • Record test results on batch tickets and in the company's computer operating system.
  • Organize and maintain quality records and retains of production batches.
  • Evaluate retains of production batches in response to quality complaints.
  • Conduct incoming raw materials testing, ensuring conformance to required specifications.
  • Perform routine production quality checks to ensure finished products are filled and packaged according to specifications.
  • Perform occasional quality audits of laboratory and production work instructions to ensure compliance with the company's Quality Policy.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
  • Inspection, test and product evaluation experience.
  • General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Ability to clearly identify and communicate issues that need to be addressed and to take the necessary steps to avoid future errors.
