Environmental Health & Safety Specialist / Trainer

We are seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Environmental Health & Safety Specialist / Trainer to support safety programs, compliance initiatives, and employee training within a food manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, administering OSHA-related training programs, maintaining compliance records, conducting audits, and partnering with plant leadership to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, safety training, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement, with the ability to effectively communicate safety policies and procedures in both English and Spanish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ongoing employee safety training in English and Spanish.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain safety training programs and records.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Lead safety committee meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
  • Support and maintain safety programs including:
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Exposure Control Programs
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Assist with incident investigations, workers' compensation administration, and return-to-work programs.
  • Analyze safety data, trends, and corrective actions to improve workplace safety performance.
  • Collaborate with operations, production, maintenance, and leadership teams to implement safety initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and prepare records for internal and external audits.
  • Translate safety documents and training materials between English and Spanish as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Environmental Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
  • Experience conducting employee safety training and presentations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
  • 3+ years of EHS experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, food production, bakery, beverage, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, GSP, CSP, or CRSP are a plus.
