Overview
Heritage Bank seeks a bank teller to provide exceptional customer service at the Oak Harbor Branch. The role includes handling routine financial transactions and supporting branch sales efforts.
Work ScheduleThis full‑time position follows a typical Monday–Friday schedule, with flexibility required for training or absences.
LocationOak Harbor, Washington. The branch is a designated travel team branch with travel primarily to Skagit and Island counties, and occasionally to other surrounding counties.
Base Salary Range- Level I – $19.00–$22.88 per hour
- Level II – $20.00–$24.84 per hour
- Builds and maintains strong relationships and provides exceptional customer service.
- Performs routine paying/receiving duties and maintains an accurate cash drawer within assigned limits.
- Promotes, explains, and refers bank products and services based on customer needs.
- Maintains confidentiality when handling customer requests and transactions.
- Complies with all policies, procedures, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in branch marketing and sales promotions.
- Contributes to team success by sharing in branch administrative duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Level I – 6 months customer service experience (required).
- Level II – 1 year recent cash handling and customer service experience in the financial services industry (required).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and proficient computer skills.
- Computer software knowledge in DNA or Fiserv preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
- Understanding of state and federal banking laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with policies, procedures, standards, and guidance relevant to the role.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Exceptional customer service ability.
- Math skills and understanding of debit/credit relationships and negotiable instruments.
- Ability to learn bank products and services.
- Proficient reading, writing, speaking, and understanding of English.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation, or alternative transportation ability when needed.
- Climate‑controlled office environment.
- Requires regular attendance, punctuality, and willingness to work a flexible or rotating schedule.
- Exposure to potential risk and hazards associated with criminal activity (e.g., robbery) with detailed instruction to minimize risk.
- Constant use of computer screens, reading of reports, and prolonged sitting.
- Operation of computer keyboard, multi‑line telephone, photocopier, scanner, facsimile, fine count cash, and cash counter requiring dexterity of hands and fingers with repetitive wrist motions.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to occasionally kneel, reach, bend, push, pull, and carry.
- Occasional lifting of money and coin, 25–50 lbs., or files and/or boxes 5–10 lbs.
