Position: Aircraft Mechanic I Corrosion (Paint and Final Finish)

Amentum is currently seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic1 specialized in Corrosion (Paint and Final Finish) (EA‑18G experience is required) to support U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island. This role involves repair of engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Make repairs to aircraft and follow direction of higher graded workers.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti‑icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units using hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' and airlines' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged components such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine‑mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; remove the engine from aircraft, use hoist or forklift truck, and disassemble and inspect parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories; perform preflight, thru‑flight, and post‑flight maintenance inspections; and perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, log maintenance records, and verify work was performed satisfactorily.
  • Service engines and airframe components at line station, making repairs short of overhaul required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, and specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair.
Other Responsibilities
  • Safety – enforce a safety culture, complete training requirements, participate in emergency response tasks, and serve on safety committees and teams.
  • Quality – conform to the Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Procedure Compliance – implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to your job.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred and three (3) years of job‑related experience required.
  • Three (3) years F/A‑18E/F or EA‑18G experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex malfunctions and perform complex Organizational Level Maintenance actions in support of the EA‑18G aircraft.
  • Must possess a level of experience necessary to inspect all aircraft assigned, certify Aircraft/Engine Logbook entries, and possess one or more of the specialties:
    Propulsion/Engine and Fuel Systems, Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Launch/Arresting, Wing/Pylon Fold, Hydraulic/Pneumatic, Flight Control Systems, Egress and/or Environmental Control Systems, Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS), Avionics Communication/Navigation/Identification/Electronic/Counter‑measures/RADAR and Weapon Control Systems, Power Distribution/Electrical Power, Instruments, Compass, Automatic Flight Control and Lighting Systems, Aircraft Armament Line, Corrosion (Paint and Final Finish).
  • May require specialization in sheet‑metal, electrical work, avionics, or other aircraft system disciplines.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.
  • May be required to be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
