North Whidbey Fire and Rescue serves the citizens of North Whidbey Island, a predominately rural area that surrounds the City of Oak Harbor and NAS Whidbey Island. The district operates out of seven fire stations, providing fire suppression, emergency medical, marine rescue and technical rescue services and responds to over 2500 calls annually.
Part-Time Firefighter/EMTs work 24-hour shifts (0600–0600) in regularly scheduled positions. There are no residency requirements for this position.
Personnel assigned to this role work a 24/120 schedule, averaging 120 hours per month.
Part-time employees assigned to regular scheduled shifts are eligible to receive benefits in accordance with the current IAFF Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Washington State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Washington State EMT certification. Candidates with NREMT certification will be considered, contingent on obtaining Washington State EMT certification.
- IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness & IFSAC Hazardous Materials Operations
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Pre-hire physical examination and drug screening.
- One year of experience as a Firefighter/EMT
