Type: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Compensation: $25.77 - $34.44 per hour
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs)
RolePosition: Vocational Specialist
The Vocational Specialist serves as a subject matter lead within a cross-functional team, supporting a caseload of approximately 90 employees with significant disabilities. You will work directly with employees, supervisors, site leadership, and the Regional Vice President to ensure employees with disabilities receive support and accommodations. This role requires professional-level writing and editing for disability documentation and interaction with managers, supervisors, employees, candidates, medical providers, and government rehabilitation agencies in person, by telephone, and by email/fax.
Responsibilities- Provide job customization/individualization, accommodations, and career planning to encourage upward and outward mobility.
- Connect employees with internal and external resources.
- Maintain documentation for each employee on caseload, including federal Ability One reports, case notes, accommodation plans, and disability summaries.
- Interact with managers, supervisors, employees, candidates, medical providers, and government rehabilitation agencies as needed.
- Review and assess disability documentation for applicants and current employees to ensure eligibility under the Ability One program.
- Assist with crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and life safety planning for employees in crisis.
- Create content and facilitate training on disability-related issues, including accommodations, on a quarterly basis.
- Monitor and track employee safety and accommodation plans; promote safety culture and ADA awareness.
- Collaborate with site management and supervisors to support all Tessera employees of all abilities; review accommodation information monthly.
- Provide job coaching and support upward/mobility strategies; work with the Career Advisor on mobility opportunities.
- Assist with recruiting functions and partnerships with local nonprofits or government organizations to aid sourcing.
- Maintain and review documentation; perform administrative duties including audit preparation and obtaining new disability documents.
- Greet, triage, and respond to accommodation requests; coordinate ADA packets and documentation with providers and managers.
- Perform case load check-ins at defined intervals and document outcomes in Workday; discuss safety and career mobility in check-ins.
- Advise on internal job applications and connect employees with internal resources (HR, Career Advisor, Benefits, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with security clearances and identification requirements; coordinate with internal teams on accessibility and safety matters.
- Maintain knowledge of disability-related topics and trends; participate in relevant training and certifications as required.
- Support and sometimes attend recruiting functions to network with local employment vendors.
- Represent Tessera in employee relations matters as needed and promote collaboration across departments.
- Prepare and present trainings on a quarterly basis across sites.
- Adhere to Tessera processes for mandatory reporting, ADA compliance, safety planning, and related requirements.

- Associate's degree is required;
Bachelor's degree in related fields preferred. - 0–3 years of experience in Social Services, Education, or Disability Support Services; combination of education and experience considered.
