Advanced Practice NURSE; NURSE Practitioner Security Clearance

Position: ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE (NURSE PRACTITIONER) with Security Clearance
Duties
* Provide comprehensive health care to eligible beneficiaries in an ambulatory setting in association with staff physicians and other medical staff.
* Manage acute and chronic health problems in accordance with existing core privileges.
* Provide follow-up care to patients to ascertain the patient's compliance with recommendations for therapy and response to treatment.
* Refer complex patient care issues to department physicians and consults specialists as needed.
* Analyze and interpret routine laboratory results.
* Consult with a physician for the interpretation of more complex laboratory results and reading of ECGs and X-rays.
* Prescribe and dispense controlled medications.
* Instruct and counsel the patient to assure greater understanding and compliance with treatment plan and longer-term health maintenance, providing general health counseling and anticipatory guidance to patients as required.
* Coordinate care provided to patients by other specialists including both military and civilian consultants to include making appropriate and timely referrals for patients and optimize patient flow within the MTF as appropriate.
* In emergency situations, administer life-saving procedures and medication in accordance with the Code Blue instruction, pending availability of a physician. Requirements Conditions of employment

* A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
* This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
* Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
* This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
* A pre-placement medical examination is required. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 10 pounds is required.
* Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
* Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
* This position has occasional, Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel that maybe required.
* Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

Degree: A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Nurse Practitioner is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
