Position: Sales Position at OH Complex - Candlewood Suites Hotel & Best Western Plus Hotel

Best Western Plus Oak Harbor Hotel & Conference Center & Candlewood Suites WA is looking for a Director of Sales to join our award-winning team!

General Manager

Position Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for generating hotel revenue through the development of new business and the management of existing accounts. This role focuses on increasing transient, corporate, government, and group room revenue while building strong client relationships and maintaining brand standards. The Salesperson will manage the RFP process, negotiate contracts, conduct sales activities, and contribute to the achievement of the hotel's revenue goals.

Sales

& Business Development
  • Identify, solicit, and secure new corporate, government, and group business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts, travel managers, relocation companies, and business partners.
  • Conduct regular sales calls, prospecting activities, and client appointments.
  • Perform hotel site tours and presentations for prospective clients.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and achieve monthly and annual revenue targets.
  • Participate in networking events, trade associations, and community organizations to generate business.
RFP Management
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing RFPs through brand and third-party platforms.
  • Review, evaluate, and respond to corporate, government, and specialty-market RFP opportunities.
  • Prepare pricing proposals and contract terms in alignment with hotel revenue strategies.
  • Ensure all RFP responses are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.
  • Track RFP production, conversion rates, and account performance.
  • Maintain accurate account and RFP information within CRM and brand systems.
Account Management
  • Develop and grow revenue from assigned accounts.
  • Negotiate room rate agreements and contract renewals.
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with key accounts.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships to ensure account retention and growth.
  • Resolve client concerns and provide exceptional customer service.
Revenue Generation
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize room revenue, ADR, occupancy, and market share.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and local demand generators.
  • Assist in developing sales action plans to achieve budgeted revenue goals.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and annual sales forecasts and production reports.
Collaboration & Operations
  • Work closely with Front Office and Operations teams to ensure successful execution of negotiated business.
  • Participate in revenue and leadership meetings.
  • Support brand initiatives, promotions, and marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure compliance with all brand sales standards and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of hotel sales experience, preferably with a branded (flag) hotel.
  • Experience managing and responding to RFPs.
  • Knowledge of hotel sales systems, PMS platforms, and brand sales tools.
  • Strong understanding of hotel revenue management principles.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
Required Skills

  • Results-oriented with strong prospecting and closing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales software.
