Aircraft Maintenance/ Mechanic
Amentum is currently seeking a qualified Aircraft Worker to support U.S. Naval Air Station maintenance operations at NAS Whidbey Island.
Essential Responsibilities- Make repairs to aircraft following orders of higher‑grade workers, including removing, cleaning, reinstalling or replacing defective parts and components.
- Perform adjustments and settings such as cable tension, seat movement, and obtain standard parts from manuals and samples.
- Service engines and other aircraft components at the line station to maintain safe operating condition.
- Support daily flight operations by performing pre‑flight and recovery checks, aircraft start‑up, launch, and directing tasks.
- Perform daily/turnaround, conditional, and special inspections in accordance with Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRC) and NAVAIR technical manuals.
- Check aircraft for tools and foreign objects to mitigate risk to the aircrew.
- Execute pre‑ and post‑operational checks, fueling, and operation of support equipment, including ladders, tie‑downs, chocks, etc.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned, requested, or directed by local directives.
Work is performed in shop environments, aircraft hangars, flight lines, and shipboard conditions with exposure to moderate to extreme weather, fumes, noise, dust, and vibration. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and lifting items weighing 40–45lb regularly and occasionally more than 50lb. Fall protection equipment and personal protective equipment are required.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience and a valid driver’s license.
- Three (3) years of recent related experience; an A&P license is considered equivalent to 3years.
- F/A‑18E/F and/or EA‑18G qualified Plane Captain experience required for line aircraft worker assignment.
- Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance and meet physical/medical requirements for daily tasks.
- Capability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. citizenship required.
- Travel required.
- Hourly wage: $38.28 (subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement); projected increase to $39.43 around 1/1/2027.
