General Maintenance Worker II – HVAC Shop
Location:
Oak Harbor, Washington – Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Non-Exempt.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, Day Shift. Compensation: $31.08 per hour.

ResponsibilitiesTypical duties include but are not limited to:
- Painting, carpentry (including siding), plumbing, masonry, grouting ceramic tile floors/walls, and minor electrical work.
- Replacing glass in windows and doors.
- Replacing/repairing door hardware.
- Clearing roof drains and gutters.
- Plaster or compound to patch holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Touch up painting and caulking.
- Minor repairs on sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
- Caulking plumbing fixtures.
- Minor repairs on concrete floors, steps, stoops, decks, and sidewalks.
- Communicating with customers and supervisors to inform about unexpected or additional repairs and determine customer needs.
- Responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Ensuring completed work meets quality control standards.
- Making difficult diagnoses and suggesting solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.
- Communicating with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
- Following all safety procedures and policies.
- Maintaining professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
Three (3) years of facilities maintenance experience preferred. Knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work preferred. Must be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
Physical RequirementsThe physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case‑by‑case basis.
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
- Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, and using repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
- Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Persevering to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance. Access to a federal military installation requires a REALID-compliant driver’s license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military , in accordance with the REALID Act. Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
