Forest Technician – Elkins, West Virginia

Our Elkins, WV forestry team seeks a highly motivated, Full Time Forestry Technician to join our progressive, growing team. The ideal candidate will reside near one of these five (5) West Virginia communities:
Elkins, Buckhannon, Weston, Flatwoods or Summersville. A two‑year or four‑year degree in Forestry or closely related field is required, or applicants must have 2+ years of practical field forestry/timber procurement experience.

Interviewing/Hiring timeline:
Open.

• Timber inventory (cruising)
• Timber sale preparation (timber marking)
• Forest data collection, including GPS and photographic information
• Other duties related to forest management for our long‑term clients

• Associate’s (or higher) degree in Forestry, Forest Technology, or Environmental Biology, or 2 years minimum of practical field forestry experience.
• B.S. degree in Forest Science/Forest Management, Natural Resources, or Environmental Sciences strongly encouraged.
• Must be competent in tree species identification and forest mensuration techniques (point sampling, plot sampling, 100% inventory methods).
• Basic knowledge of common computer/office software.
• Self‑motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability and willingness to work out of town as assigned for 1‑2 week time periods.

Full‑time. Starting compensation: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour, depending on experience; paid over time. Benefits: 401(k) matching, health insurance, life insurance, paid time off, professional development assistance, vision insurance.
