Overview
Base pay range: $40.30/hr - $60.45/hr this range is provided by Advocate Health Care. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Qualifications- Graduate of an approved program of Nuclear Medicine Technology
- 1 year experience preferred but not essential
- Certification with ARRT or CNMT
- Knowledge of computers and various nuclear medicine scanners
- CPR Certification; licensed by IEMA or registry eligible
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment and injections to patients with the proper dosage of radioisotopes to produce quality scans for diagnosis
- Retrieve patient from floor when necessary; properly position and immobilize patients
- Process images through eNTEGRA workstation, PACS and satellite; prepare and organize studies for radiologist review
- Clean and stock work area with necessary supplies; verify Centralized Scheduling does not conflict with other examinations
- Provide information to clerical staff for patient billing
- Operate nuclear medicine cameras and equipment; measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes
- Obtain patient history for the record and technique sheet; compute and interpret test results for radiologist
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications per clinician prescription; perform venipuncture and venous access as needed
- Comply with radiation safety requirements and ALARA principles; maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical doses
- Adhere to department standards of image quality and safety; label images and check quality prior to patient dismissal
- Document performance improvement data and maintain a safe work environment
- Deliver a Service First approach: treat patients and customers with respect and compassion; maintain privacy and patient confidentiality
- Develop leadership skills and professionalism through department/hospital committees and continuing education
- Attend to personal schedule consistently and keep Nuclear Medicine skills up to date
- Identify problems and take steps toward resolution; participate in department meetings

- Basic computer skills; basic knowledge of nuclear medicine scanners
- Licensure by IEMA and registry eligibility; CPR certification
- Radiation exposure; long hours and on-call required; ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to handle independent professional decisions; potential risks due to needle sticks; heavy lifting required
- Ability to operate portable equipment; work with ill patients; flexible hours; weekends/holidays/on-call
- Lifting capabilities: LIGHT up to 20-50 pounds occasionally; MEDIUM up to 20-50 pounds and 10-25 pounds frequently; HEAVY up to 50-100 pounds occasionally
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals; ability to attend out-of-town site visits
