FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $115,000 - $135,000 based on qualifications and experience; competitive benefits package

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field required.
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal Endorsement and a teaching endorsement in one of the division's content areas.
  • Minimum of three years of successful instructional leadership experience.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Experience in Fine and Performing Arts education and curriculum development preferred.
  • Illinois State Board of Education-issued teacher evaluator designation.
  • Commitment to equity and eliminating systemic obstacles for underrepresented students.
  • Leadership style that values people and is based on high professional and ethical values.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a high level of motivation.
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events as needed.
  • Expertise in using data for decision-making.
  • Proficiency in a range of technology software (e.g., Google, Microsoft Office applications, and a high school student information system).
Position Summary

The Division Head of Fine and Performing Arts is responsible for leading and managing Music, Art, Theater/Speech, and Dance. The Division Head teaches one course in the division content area. This role ensures that students have access to high-quality instruction, curriculum, and programming in the Fine and Performing Arts and supports faculty development in these disciplines. The Division Head serves as a key member of the All-District Administrative (ADA) Team and the Student Learning/Division Head team, providing input on school-wide instructional initiatives and strategic planning.

Essential

Functions
  • The Division Head teaches one course in the division content area.
  • Provide educational leadership for the Fine and Performing Arts division and contribute to school-wide programs.
  • Hire, assign, support, and evaluate faculty and staff in the Fine and Performing Arts division.
  • Lead curriculum development, instructional practices, and program enhancements.
  • Recommend course additions, deletions, or revisions aligned with long-range curricular needs.
  • Guide the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, and technology.
  • Supervise and support extracurricular Fine and Performing Arts activities (Theater, Marching Band).
  • Serve as a member of the Applause Parent Group.
  • Attend at least 70% of evening productions and events to support programs and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with post-secondary institutions and arts organizations to enhance student opportunities.
  • Oversee budgets, equipment, and resources for Music, Art, Theater/Speech, Dance, and Television Production.
  • Promote student and faculty accomplishments through school and community engagement.
  • Develop and oversee professional learning for Fine and Performing Arts educators.
  • Coordinate with administration and faculty to align Fine and Performing Arts programming with district goals.
  • Support recruitment efforts for Fine and Performing Arts educators and students.
