AMETEK’s Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) business unit, within the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group, has an opening for a Cost Accountant.
The Cost Accountant is a hands‑on finance professional who performs a variety of routine operational and accounting duties requiring some solo judgment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has excellent communication skills, and an understanding of manufacturing accounting.
Costing Activities- Ensure accurate product costing – including reviewing BOMs, overhead rates, etc.
- Provide accurate cost and analysis for pricing review
- Make‑vs‑Buy analysis
- Drive the annual standard cost review
- Coordinate annual physical inventory in Oakridge and Athens sites and spot‑check cycle counts every month in those sites
- Create and monitor special project accounting
- Support operations by creating/maintaining dashboards, metrics, and other relevant reporting
- Plan, coordinate, and assist reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventories
- Create/maintain documentation of the procedures performed
- Brainstorm and help implement cost reductions/process improvements
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist with month‑end closing and preparation of monthly financial statements
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of account reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Ensure corporate/divisional policies and procedures are followed
- Prepare ad‑hoc reports/analysis and communicate cross‑functionally
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
- Exposure to Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX)
- Exposure to Oracle ERP System
- Manufacturing‑related experience
- Standard cost build‑up experience through BOM and routings in a manufacturing environment
