Senior Manager Network Engineering

Location: Oak Ridge, TN (Onsite / Hybrid as required)

The Senior Manager of Network Engineering is responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, and day-to-day operations of the enterprise network environment. This role manages a team of network engineers while remaining technically engaged in the design, modernization, and optimization of large-scale, Cisco-centric networks.

, along with a proven ability to lead engineers, align technology with business goals, and partner across infrastructure, security, and cloud teams.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4 Network Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
• Provide hands‑on guidance, technical direction, and coaching across complex network initiatives
• Oversee resource planning, skills development, performance management, and succession planning

• Define and execute the enterprise network strategy aligned to business, security, and cloud transformation goals
• Own architecture and standards for LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, VLAN, routing, switching, and network security
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies including software‑defined networking, automation, and cloud networking patterns
• Ensure scalability, resiliency, performance, and security across all network services

• Provide oversight for network operations, troubleshooting, incident response, and root‑cause analysis
• Drive standardization, documentation, and engineering best practices
• Lead initiatives around network automation, monitoring, performance optimization, and proactive capacity planning
• Ensure compliance with IT governance, security policies, and technical standards

• Partner closely with Security, Systems, Cloud, and Application teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions
• Oversee firewall administration, IDS/IPS, VPN, and identity‑based networking
• Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and high‑availability architectures
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and supplier performance
• Own network budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives

• Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switching
• Cisco routing (dynamic routing protocols, QoS, traffic engineering)
• Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

• LAN / WAN / SD-WAN
• VPN, VLANs, load balancing
• Intrusion detection and network security platforms
• Network monitoring and performance tools

• Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
• Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy
• Scripting and automation
• EDI and enterprise connectivity solutions

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Network Engineering within a large enterprise environment
• 4+ years managing and mentoring technical engineering teams
• Strong hands‑on expertise in Cisco networking technologies
• Experience designing and supporting complex, multi‑site enterprise networks
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical network solutions
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with engineers, leadership, and vendors
