Overview

• Performs computer system based calibration procedures to assure instrument specification accuracy and compliance to national and international standards associated with the calibration and control of measuring and test equipment.
• Performs manual calibration procedures to assure instrument specification accuracy and compliance with applicable DOE, national, and international standards.
• Records test data for all calibrated equipment as required.
• Reports defects observed during completion of calibration procedures.
• Assists in the development of automated and/or manual calibration/test procedures.
• May support additional organizations with the inspection, test, repair, service, fabrication, alters, and install of a wide variety of electrical power, electronic, and instrumental equipment, including controlling devices and wiring systems; precision mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and pneumatic instruments and devices; radiation instruments, x-ray machines, computers, telephone equipment, radio networks, facsimile systems failures.

• Requires trade school or apprenticeship training with four years of applicable industrial electrical and electronics experience or equivalent combination.
• A working knowledge of the National Electrical Codes and electrical safe work practices is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematic/engineering diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and vendor manuals.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance is required. Position may require entry into Material Access Areas (MAAs) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10

• In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e., High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

• Must be a motivated individual and able to work independently.
• Working knowledge and experience with precision measurement instruments.
• Ability to navigate within computer database systems and perform data entry.
