What You'll Do

Reliability Engineer (RE) provides a strategic support interface between Production, Engineering, Projects, and the Maintenance Organizations by providing recommendations and technical expertise to enhance equipment design, reliability, and maintainability. The RE has a critical role in optimizing asset management processes through utilization of proactive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime, failure rates and maximize equipment reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Defines and provides implementation support for recommendations that ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems
  • Provides reliability based technical support to Production, Operations, Infrastructure Management and Craft personnel
  • Gathers, reviews, and analyzes data concerning facility or equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and inspectability (RAMI) specifications
  • Review technical documents that depict or define reliability, accessibility, maintainability or inspectability features of systems, equipment and facilities including technical basis documentation, manuals and data‑sheets
  • Lead role in integration of project and plant RAMI deliverables
  • Development of proactive maintenance strategies for structures, systems and components
  • Equipment Failure Mode Identification and Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Trend Analysis of structures, systems, and components
  • Defines, develops, implements, revises, and monitors Asset Management Plan(s) for structures, systems and components
  • Effective deployment of condition based, predictive and other non‑destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems before failure occurrence
  • Completion and presentation of both RAMI and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses to internal and external engineering partners, including labor distributions, critical spares identification, proactive asset management plans, failure rates MTBF, MTTR and life‑cycle cost analysis

Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science (Chemistry, Physics, or related) from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accredited Program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or ABET substantial equivalency.
  • Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement: 3.0/4.0 for Bachelor, 3.3 for Master, 3.5 for PhD. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA.
  • Requires DOE O 426.2A qualifications (e.g., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job‑related nuclear experience, 1 year nuclear experience, or DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment; newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. ( O 426.2A)
Preferred

Job Requirements
  • BS in engineering/physical science discipline with 2+ years of Reliability Engineering experience or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of Reliability Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of common failure modes and maintenance strategies of components
  • Ability to work independently as well as work within a team environment and promote collaboration
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Interact with organizations across the Site
  • Present information clearly and effectively through oral and written communication
  • Ability to resolve complex issues, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced work environment
