Control Systems Engineer, Sr

As a Senior Control Systems Engineer at the American Centrifuge Manufacturing facility in Oak Ridge, TN, you’ll be the go‑to expert for process control systems that run our advanced operations. You’ll design, optimize, and troubleshoot control systems, ensuring everything runs safely, reliably, and efficiently—while collaborating across operations, maintenance, and engineering.

What You Will Do:

You will be exercising responsibility for accomplishing complex systems assignments on schedule and on budget. Working with a multi-disciplinary engineering organization involving electro‑mechanical systems, you’ll be able to perform conceptual process control systems design, determination of process control system strategy, design of assembled programming, preparation of bills of material, and cost estimates. You’ll lead optimization efforts to reduce downtime and improve efficiency, while also training operators and maintenance personnel.

You’ll track and trend plant system performance, deliver critical reports to leadership, and bring cross‑functional teams together when challenges arise. You’ll also support integrated system testing and partner with field technicians to resolve complex technical issues—always with an eye toward safety, compliance, and reliability. Expect to travel approximately 10%-15% of the time.

We’d Love to Hear From People With:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science from an accredited university
• 10+ years of experience in working with industrial instrumentation, process control, or related experience.

• PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
• Process instrumentation and automation applications
• Strong knowledge of engineering standards and practices for process control equipment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a “Q” security clearance

• Experience with major control systems such as Rockwell Automation products hardware and software product suites (Control Logix, Logix 5000, FT View, FT Historian and FT VantagePoint).
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and P&.
• An active “Q” level security clearance.

This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
