Process Engineer III – Direct Hire – Oak Ridge, TN
Job DescriptionPerform and document process engineering calculations in support of nuclear and chemical process systems. Support process design development during conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
- Development and review of:
- Engineering calculations
- Process flow diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Process equipment specifications and data sheets
- Apply applicable nuclear, chemical, and safety requirements to process designs.
- Interface with mechanical, electrical, I&C, safety, and operations teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Support design reviews, technical evaluations, and configuration control activities.
- Prepare and maintain formal engineering documentation, calculations, and technical reports in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, startup, or readiness activities as required.
- Mentor or provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers when appropriate.
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical degree (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years of experience.
- Experience in process engineering roles within industrial, nuclear, or government facilities. U.S. Citizenship required.
- Experience performing and documenting process engineering calculations.
- Familiarity with process equipment specification and system design.
- Experience working within regulated environments and structured engineering procedures.
- Knowledge of AMSE B31.1, B31.3, and ASME BPV Code.
- Prior nuclear, DOE, or high‑hazard facility design experience.
- Experience with nuclear material or uranium processing systems.
- Experience serving in a project engineering or technical lead role.
- Experience working under a formal quality program (ISO 9001, NQA‑1).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license not required, but ability to obtain is a plus.
- Master's degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and team‑focused professional.
May require the ability to obtain a government clearance, including drug testing and background investigation. Reinvestigations may be required.
