Responsibilities

Work with Team Lead, Project Engineers, Quality Assurance, and Procurement within the project to develop technical specifications, statements of work, and drawing packages detailing the requirements to establish external standards for suppliers and vendors.

  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria with peer Project Engineers for projects and activities to be carried out.
  • Coordinate and execute collaborative team meetings with domestic and foreign diagnostic counterparts to report status and develop actions to push joint progress.
  • Perform technical review of fabrication documents and drawings, technical specifications, material certificates, and calculations.
  • Prepare and give presentations for meetings of technical scope and progress.
  • Determine applicability and appropriateness of requirements and internal controls.
  • Work with Team Lead to schedule and assign work to meet completion deadlines on assigned projects.
  • Prepare documentation (manufacturing plans and dossiers).
  • Evaluate fabrication deviation requests and non-conformances from industrial suppliers.
Requirements
  • Bachelors in Science degree in a technical related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant technical and project management experience with the design and manufacturing of complex structures and integrated systems.
  • Experience setting and achieving project goals, utilizing project management tools to support execution of project scope, and experience interfacing with vendors and fabricators.
  • Familiarity with 3D modelling/CAD and review of fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of researchers, engineers, and technicians; domestic and international.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of structural, nuclear, and/or complex chemical processing systems.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant technical and project management experience demonstrating comprehensive understanding of design and manufacturing of chemical processing equipment for large-scale science or nuclear facilities.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in the commercial nuclear industry.
Location/Work Arrangement
  • This position is a fully onsite position in Oak Ridge, TN.
  • Schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week.
