Job Title: Lifecycle Systems Engineer
Location: Oak Ridge, TN
Career Level: Senior Associate to Senior Specialist
The Lifecycle Systems Engineer (LSE) will implement Systems and Requirements Engineering principles for Y-12 site activities, including production processes, infrastructure projects, and programmatic support to NSE and NNSA programs.
Responsibilities- Serve as the Systems Engineering technical authority, implementing life‑cycle systems engineering practices per ISO‑15288, ISO‑29148, DOE 413.3‑1, and INCOSE for assigned systems, structures, and projects.
- Support all phases of systems engineering (concept, planning, design, execution, integration, testing, operations) and provide lifecycle support.
- Lead and collaborate with cross‑functional teams, establishing a Requirements Engineering Management structure to plan, execute, and verify project readiness.
- Facilitate creation and approval of systems and requirements management deliverables such as Functional & Operational Requirement Documents, System Requirement Documents, Project Scoping Documents, Analysis of Alternatives, Operational Concepts, and related documents.
- Use a requirements‑management software suite to trace and manage requirements, provide gap analyses at critical milestones, and confirm closure of requirement verifications.
- Provide Digital Engineering solutions using tools such as Vitec Genesys, Cameo model‑based systems engineering, IBM DOORS (Classic and Next Generation), Flex SIM, Extend Sim, and Model Center as appropriate.
- Participate in Digital Transformation activities, developing procedures and guidance for tools and departmental processes.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physical Science (Chemistry, Physics, or related) from an ABET‑accredited program. 2 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA for Bachelor's; 3.3 for Master’s; 3.5 for PhD.
- MS in Engineering/Physical Science or PhD in Engineering/Physical Science accepted as equivalent.
- GA performance requirement and GPA verification by transcript at time of offer. Beyond four years post‑graduation, experience supersedes GPA.
Job Requirements
- Internship or experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or similar technical environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills.
- Experience with DOORS, Genesys, Cameo, FlexSIM, and Extend Sim.
- Initiative, independence, and ability to manage competing priorities.

Requires a Q clearance; all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance is required. The position may require entry into Material Access Areas and participation in the Human Reliability Program, as well as DOE counterintelligence evaluation and polygraph examination. The position may be designated under 10 C.F.R. Part 709.
