Mid-Level Plant Designer; OAK RIDGE

Mid‑Level Plant Designer (Oak Ridge)

Develop piping systems and equipment layout in Smart Plant 3D or similar BIM design tools. Deliver general equipment arrangement documents and support schedule and budget planning for the Plant Design and Piping Team. Resolve interferences, develop integration with Intelligent Schematics, and work with Piping Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Civil teams on pipe specifications, stress analysis, support designs, and underground interface connections.

Manage model outputs for material lists and reports.

• General understanding of building mechanical systems: HVAC, piping, & plumbing.
• Proficiency with BIM tools for plant design.
• Assist with interferences and resolution development.
• Coordinate with other BIM tools for integration.
• Support pipe specification and stress analysis with Piping Engineering.
• Collaborate on pipe support designs with Structural Engineering.
• Generate material lists and reports from model outputs.

• Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
• Lifting up to 20 lbs, carrying up to 50 ft; hand manipulation for grasping and pulling.
• Occasional travel and work near construction site equipment.
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, noise, temperature extremes, and uneven ground.
• Safety awareness when working near hazardous equipment or at heights.

• AS Degree or higher.
• 10+ years using BIM tools for plant design.
• Experience in chemical, industrial mechanical/piping design.
• Nuclear piping design experience preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Team‑work orientation and professional conduct.
• Appropriate grooming and dress to avoid safety hazards.
• Pass a pre‑employment drug and background check.
• Local to Oak Ridge, TN preferred; otherwise local with travel willingness.

$53.00 – $70.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience, and market conditions.
