Piping Engineer

Early Career Piping Engineer

As a Piping Engineer in Amentum’s Nuclear Projects team, you will work with mid and senior level Engineers to design systems for Piping, HVAC and Plumbing. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in the development of:

• Material Specifications
• Construction Specifications
• Hydraulic Calculations
• Air Flow Calculations
• Utility Equipment sizing calculations
• Stress Analysis calculations
• Mechanical Equipment Schedules
• Plumbing fixture specifications
• Review and Validation for International Building Code (IBC) Requirements
• Material Handling mechanical specifications for conveyors, hoists, cranes, lifts, dolly’s, etc.
• General oversight of the system design for compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specific customer requirements.
• Field Inspections and walkdowns of existing mechanical systems

Mechanical Engineering BS Degree from an accredited university

A general understanding of Building Mechanical Systems: HVAC/Piping/Plumbing

In addition to the Basic Qualifications the ideal candidate might also have:

Work Environment

Office environment. (95%)

Telework is not an option for this role at this time for Entry level positions, all work performed from secure office environment.

May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities.

Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

Must be able to move and sit for extended periods (100%) as well as and lift up to 35 lbs (25%). Vision correctable to 20/20. Candidate must have the ability to read and use Smart Plant design software unassisted.

Standard office equipment - PC, telephone, fax, copier, job related software (Smart Plant design) and other related equipment (90%)

Regular attendance mandatory (100%)
