The Global Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of ORTEC brand nuclear instrumentation and measurement systems used for radiation detection and radioisotope identification. This role combines technical leadership with organizational management, overseeing a team of electrical engineers engaged in board‑level mixed‑signal design, including low‑noise analog front ends, ADC systems, digital processing, and power electronics.
The Global Electrical Engineering Manager drives execution across the full product lifecycle while ensuring alignment with business objectives, product requirements, and regulatory compliance. This position requires deep technical expertise in precision instrumentation along with demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, managing projects, and developing talent.
Responsibilities Technical Leadership- Provide architectural direction and technical oversight for mixed‑signal systems including low‑noise amplifiers, ADC systems, DSP architectures, and power supply design.
- Guide system‑level design and integration of detectors, displays, batteries, and embedded processors.
- Ensure robust design practices for high‑accuracy, low‑noise measurement systems.
- Oversee prototyping, PCB bring‑up, debugging, validation, and performance characterization.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers.
- Assign and prioritize engineering resources across projects.
- Conduct performance reviews and support career development.
- Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Own execution of electrical engineering deliverables across the product lifecycle.
- Coordinate cross‑functionally with systems, software, manufacturing, quality, and product teams.
- Ensure projects meet schedule, cost, and performance targets.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory standards such as IEC/UL 61010‑1.
- Oversee compliance testing, documentation, and certification.
- Drive DFM and DFT practices.
- Support customer engagements and technical reviews.
- Partner with Marketing to align specifications with market needs.
- Identify and implement new technologies for growth.
- BS in Electrical Engineering required; MS preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant electronics design experience.
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience: coaching, mentoring, and performance management; ability to build and sustain a high‑performing engineering team.
- Ability to manage and direct a multi‑site team with team members at other AMETEK office locations.
- Proven experience leading technical electronics team delivering complex hardware and/or instrumentation products.
- Hardware design and architecture ownership with experience with FPGA, DSP, and embedded systems.
- Strong background in high accuracy and low noise analog, digital, and mixed‑signal design.
- Expertise in system architecture design and hardware/software integration ranging from laboratory instrumentation to portable measurement systems.
- Project execution and cross‑functional team coordination (schedule, cost, performance) across the product lifecycle.
