Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for a Process Control I&C Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position OverviewSpectra Tech is seeking a Process Control (I&C) Engineer to support mission‑critical operations at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The selected candidate will provide Instrumentation & Controls engineering support, configuration management, field troubleshooting, and design services for facility control systems operating within a regulated nuclear environment.
This position will work onsite under the direction of the assigned manager and support configuration‑managed systems, change control activities, engineering design updates, and field implementation efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Instrumentation & Controls Engineering design support with a primary focus on equipment process control and monitoring systems
- Support software change control and configuration management for facility control systems
- Develop change packages and provide field technical support and system walkdowns
- Support programmers and operations personnel during implementation activities
- Review Change Requests (CRs) and determine impacted configuration‑managed documents
- Walk down affected systems and update engineering documentation to reflect field modifications
- Troubleshoot existing systems and develop corrective design solutions
- Maintain and revise conduit and cable schedules
- Maintain and revise conduit and equipment plans
- Maintain and revise one‑line diagrams
- Maintain and revise wiring, connection, and schematic diagrams
- Maintain and revise instrument loop diagrams
- Maintain and revise engineering calculations
- Maintain and revise datasheets
- Maintain and revise construction specifications
- Support both single‑discipline assignments and multidisciplinary project teams
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and nuclear facility requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering design
- Experience supporting equipment process control and monitoring systems
- Demonstrated experience utilizing National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Demonstrated experience utilizing UL508A
- Demonstrated experience utilizing Applicable ISA standards
- Experience supporting configuration management
- Experience supporting change control programs
- Experience supporting engineering document updates
- Experience supporting field troubleshooting and system walkdowns
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Experience in NRC or DOE regulated environments
- Understanding of Conduct of Engineering
- Understanding of Conduct of Operations
- Experience with Rockwell Automation software including RSLogix
- Experience with Rockwell Automation software including Factory Talk
- DOE Q Clearance
- Experience utilizing ETAP Power Systems Analysis software, including:
Power system modeling, design, and analysis;
Steady‑state and short‑circuit studies;
Motor acceleration analysis;
Equipment protection and coordination studies;
Arc flash assessment and mitigation; IEEE 1584 arc flash studies;
Harmonic analysis and filter sizing.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
- Must meet all site access, badging, training, and security requirements
- Must complete required UCNI/CUI awareness training
