Electrical Engineer - Kiewit Nuclear Solutions

Electrical Design Engineers with a mid-level engineering capacity perform all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The role requires practical engineering aptitude, self‑directed learning, strong leadership skills, and willingness to travel periodically.

• Conduct and review detailed AC/DC calculations using ETAP (load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, arc‑flash, motor starting, protection, and relay coordination).
• Design Development
  • Prepare scoping documents and perform constructability reviews.
  • Prepare electrical drawings, including single lines, three lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Design and review lighting, communications, and security systems.
• Develop and review equipment specifications.
• Participate in bid evaluations and manage vendor Q&A tracking.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Engage with clients and implementation personnel.
• Travel
  :
  Visit client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews and construction coordination.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Experience
  : 7–10+ years in electrical system design for industrial or nuclear power plant projects.
• Technical Skills
  • Proficient in selecting equipment and materials.
  • Experienced in preparing engineering design packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Skilled in designing low‑ and medium‑ voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays).
• Soft Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Highly detail‑oriented.
• Licensure
  : PE license or ability to obtain.

Base Compensation: $103,000/yr – $108,000/yr
