Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the largest science and energy laboratory under the US Department of Energy, is dedicated to conducting advanced research addressing critical challenges in energy and security. The Integrated Building Performance and Analysis (IBDA) group leads the development of innovative methods for residential and commercial whole-building energy performance and systems integration, deployment, and analysis in support of the DOE mission.
Staff members lead and participate in teams providing technical assistance, resources, tools and training to the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) and organizations within the Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) pillar. We are currently seeking a skilled Project Manager. This role involves leading project management efforts and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and sponsors.
This position aligns with and supports development toward the Federal Project Executive position (advancement dependent on performance, qualifications, and organizational needs).
Major Duties/Responsibilities- Oversee project management and milestone reporting for substantial projects
- Develop and deliver various technical materials, such as reports, newsletters, articles, announcements, and visual content
- Coordinate with stakeholders, addressing issues and tracking resolutions
- Collaborate with diverse teams, monitoring progress towards specific goals and milestones
- Project Execution and Finance Support Duties:
- Providing project support to federal agencies for performance contracts to achieve energy, cost saving and energy security goals
- Monitor and report progress on energy performance contracting project portfolios
- Support FEMP with programmatic and data analysis
- Provide feedback to FEMP for program and project improvement
- Create tools and resources to streamline the project processes
- Assist in FEMP's outreach activities
- Assist with technical training at workshops and conferences
- Assist with and deliver customized training for federal agencies
- Support agencies in energy performance contracting procurement approaches for energy efficiency projects
- Assist training program with special projects
- BS in a Scientific, Engineering or Business-related field with a minimum of five years of industry/work experience
- Self-motivated individual capable of working independently, setting goals/deadlines, and contributing creatively to collaborative teams
- Highly organized with strong interpersonal skills (both oral and written) for regular interactions with Laboratory staff, sponsors, industry, and academia
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and various AI programs
- MS in a Scientific or Business-related field with a minimum of four years of industry/work experience
- Energy Performance Contracting knowledge and experience
