UPF; Uranium Processing Facility Engineering Process Security Clearance

Responsibilities

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) seeks Engineering, Professional, Technical, and Administrative support personnel to augment the Department of Energy staff at the Y-12 National Security Complex (Oak Ridge, TN) and the Pantex Plant (Amarillo, TX). Employees will be directed by Y-12 staff while receiving pay, benefits, and HR support from AIS. Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet all pre‑employment requirements including physicals, drug screening, and background investigation for DOE clearance.

• Validate and implement UPF safety basis and technical design requirements to prepare for operational readiness.
• Conduct technical adequacy reviews of safety basis documents, drawings, specifications, and other design documents.
• Validate and verify that technical design requirements are correctly implemented in drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
• Verify acceptance testing results to ensure design criteria and safety basis requirements are demonstrated.
• Lead facility and systems operational readiness by preparing and verifying readiness affirmation evidence packages.

• Bachelor of Science from an ABET‑accredited Engineering or Physical Science program (Chemistry, Physics, or related) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Must meet DOE O 426.2A requirements: B.S. in engineering or related science, 2 years job‑related experience, and 1 year nuclear experience (or DOE O 426.2A alternative).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
• Pre‑employment drug screen: candidates must pass a post‑offer pre‑employment drug test.
• Medical examinations may be required to satisfy job‑related pre‑placement health criteria.
• Position may require maintaining a DOE clearance and participation in a Workplace Substance Abuse Testing Program if designated as such.
