HVAC Designer

Boston Government Services (BGS) is seeking a HVAC Designer to support our clients at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y‑12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent, reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction, supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program, and provide solutions to other national security challenges. Projects at Y‑12 include protective equipment for soldiers, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

The HVAC Designer will have the technical knowledge of related engineering systems, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.

• Ability to plan, self‑perform tasks, and multi‑task on multiple projects.
• The position requires the ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written words and utilize automated workflow systems.
• Must be able to coordinate verification and validation of documents with technical and operations personnel prior to release for approval and implementation.
• Ability to develop and maintain historical information.
• Ability to prepare, interpret, maintain, and incorporate requirements of technical drawings and operating documents.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Associate Degree in a related discipline (HVAC or Fire Protection) with two or more years of progressive and relevant experience in HVAC and/or Fire Sprinkler System Design.
• Five or more years of progressive and relevant experience in HVAC Design and 3D Modeling.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

• Experience in Revit and Smart Plant is a plus.
• Experience working with point clouds and 3D modeling software for multi‑discipline projects.
• Familiarity with Trane Trace (or similar programs).
• DOE work experience.

• This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
• Schedule is full‑time, Monday–Friday 40‑hour week.
