Boston Government Services, LLC. (BGS) is seeking a Process Engineer – Wet Chemistry to support our client in Oak Ridge, TN.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of wet chemistry processes, including areas such as acid deficient uranyl nitrate, gelation, solvent recovery, liquid chemical processing, chemical transport, evaporation, filtration, storage, and mixing.
  • Lead and support the implementation of advanced manufacturing processes to achieve production targets while maintaining quality standards.
  • Create technical specifications for process equipment and coordinate with vendors to ensure all critical design requirements are met prior to delivery.
  • Partner with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of process equipment.
  • Perform research and analysis to develop new or enhanced manufacturing processes, and assess emerging equipment and technologies to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Establish procedures for the safe and effective handling and processing of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials.
  • Design and plan equipment layouts, especially for new processes, products, or customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to scale processes from laboratory development to pilot and full production environments.
  • Work closely with regulatory teams to develop safety procedures and implement appropriate controls for hazardous chemicals, equipment, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and provide support related to waste permitting activities.
  • Execute process testing and monitor performance during production operations.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve manufacturing process issues.
  • Track deviations from established process controls and recommend corrective actions to reduce or eliminate variability.
  • Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive inventory of equipment, chemical inputs, outputs, and waste streams.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to address and resolve complex process related challenges.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to junior level process engineers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Preferred experience levels include Level III with approximately five years, Level IV with ten years, or Level V with fifteen or more years of relevant experience. Advanced degrees may substitute for a portion of required experience.
  • Experience with CAD tools and P and t is required.
  • Experience with industrial equipment design, procurement, installation, and operation is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • General familiarity with the nuclear fuel cycle is preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes powder processing, graphite powders, extrusion, ceramics, chemical processing, industrial waste processing, and liquid processing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet aggressive timelines.
