The Cryogenics Applications Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at Cryomagnetics’ headquarters in Oak Ridge, TN, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This senior-level role involves the design, configuration, and application of superconducting magnet and cryogenic systems. Product development for next-generation systems that meet market demands will be a primary focus. Other responsibilities include providing technical support, performing system diagnostics and testing, assisting with installation and commissioning, and collaborating with production teams.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to translate customer requirements into practical system solutions and contribute to product improvements based on test results and market feedback. The position also requires close interaction with sales and project management to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet performance and safety standards. Starting compensation is approximately $120,000, negotiable depending on experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience taking a technical product from conceptual design through qualification testing
- Experience with Testing of electro-mechanical systems, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance verification
- Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings, specifications, and schematics
- Comfort working hands-on with laboratory and industrial equipment in an on-site manufacturing and test environment
- Effective communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with a focus on safety and quality
- Experience with superconducting magnets and/or low-temperature equipment and associated electronics
- Proficiency in technical support, including customer-facing problem solving, issue resolution, and clear technical communication
- Familiarity with software development or scripting for system control, data acquisition, or automation is beneficial
- Graduate degree in a related field
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites for installation or field repairs, or to attend and present at technical conferences
- Experience in mentorship of technical staff
