Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will support design, fabrication, process development, and production readiness activities. This role involves CAD modeling, generating manufacturing documentation, developing tooling, supporting procurement, and contributing to advanced manufacturing technology initiatives.
LocationOn-site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Job Tasks- Create 3D design models and detailed engineering drawings using Solid Works or AutoCAD.
- Provide engineering support for assembly, testing, and inspection activities.
- Assist with development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies and new processes.
- Support prototype and production equipment assembly.
- Generate manufacturing routings, work instructions, and shop floor documentation.
- Write test reports and support qualification documentation.
- Support procurement of mechanical components and control of tooling.
- Provide hands‑on support using shop equipment and tools.
- Inspect and characterize components for process monitoring and improvements.
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and test apparatus.
- Support equipment selection, installation, and facility engineering activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET accredited).
- Minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience.
- Knowledge of wiring, mechanical systems, and CAD.
- Experience designing complex electro/mechanical tools or systems.
- Experience with robotics or automation preferred.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE or DOD clearance; active clearance preferred.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing or automation technologies.
- Experience developing custom tooling.
