Structural Engineer PE Consultant

Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting aStructural Engineer Consultant(3895) in Oak Ridge, TN.This is a 4 to 6 week assignment with the possibility of being extended.

• Navarro Research & Engineering isseekinga highly experienced Structural Engineer Consultant to serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for structural engineering projects supporting Department of Energy (DOE), nuclear, industrial, and government facilities.
• Provide independent technical oversight and professional engineering approvalofstructural analyses, calculations, specifications, and design drawings.
• Independently verify engineering deliverablesrepresentsafe, complete, and defensible designs suitable for professional certification.

• A current and active Tennessee Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Must maintain Tennessee PE registration in good standing throughout the duration of the assignment.
• Responsible for sealing engineering documents for Tennessee projects.

• Serve as the Engineer of Record (EOR).
• Review GT STRUDL analytical models, structural calculations, design reports, construction drawings, specifications, design change packages, and design methodologies.
• Validate loads, load combinations, modeling assumptions, boundary conditions, and design criteria.
• Review structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, equipment supports, seismic, wind, dynamic, impact, and specialty analyses.
• Verify compliance with building codes, engineering standards, DOE requirements, and project specifications.
• Coordinate resolution of technical comments and deficiencies.
• Provide technical review comments and approval documentation.
• Stamp and sign engineering documents only after independent verification.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
• Active Tennessee PE license.
• Minimum of10years of structural engineering experience.
• Engineer of Record or Lead Structural Engineer experience.
• Advanced GT STRUDLproficiency.
• Experience reviewing structural calculations and engineering deliverables prepared by others.
• Extensive experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundation design, finite element analysis, seismic and dynamic analysis.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Manual, and ACI 318.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• DOE, NNSA, nuclear, or highly regulated facility experience.
• NQA-1 independent design verification experience.
• Technical review experience for GT STRUDL models and finite element analyses.
• Familiarity with ANSYS,STAAD.Pro, RISA, and Mathcad.
• Experience with safety-significant or safety-class structures.
• Previous Engineer of Record experience on industrial, government, or nuclear projects.
