Boston Government Services, LLC (BGS) is seeking an Industrial Microwave Engineer to support current and new projects in our Oak Ridge, TN office. Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize microwave systems and components used in industrial production processes.
- Work in a multi-discipline environment, deliver engineering results, calculations, system and equipment selections, and manage microwave system design, budget, and schedule.
- Maintain professional relationships with vendors, customers, and project personnel as required.
- Collaborate with other engineering and technical staff to ensure project goals are met.
- Develop industrial production microwave heating system design documents and drawings.
- Develop high-power microwave components including windows, launchers, tuners, splitters, circulators, rotary joints, and switches in vacuum, pressure, and corrosive environments.
- Serve as the primary interface with clients, project management, procurement professionals, and other engineering disciplines on projects related to microwave heating systems.
- Develop basis of design and scope of work documents.
- Develop equipment specifications for microwave equipment, including generators, applicator specifics, plasma and arcing prevention, and other supporting equipment.
- Produce microwave calculations, drawings, and reports and ensure technical accuracy and conformance to project design criteria.
- Adhere to established procedures, design guidelines, and design tools on projects.
- Apply expertise in industrial heating systems, applicator characteristics, electromagnetic applications, and microwave practice calculations.
- Utilize electromagnetic analysis software (e.g., Ansys HFSS, Ice Pack, ADS, COMSOL, or similar).
- Understand electrical distribution systems at various voltages (e.g., 120 VAC, 480 VAC) as they relate to microwave field generation.
- Experience with refurbishment and upgrades of existing industrial facilities.
- Minimum of 4 years of microwave design experience in industrial heating applications and/or related industries.
- Familiarity with using network analysis to characterize component performance, validate model predictions, and troubleshoot industrial microwave systems.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Successful drug screening.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
- Proficiency in 3D solid modeling for high-power electromagnetic and thermal design of components and systems.
- Significant experience with industrial production microwave heating systems.
- Knowledge of Building Codes including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience with Ansys HFSS, COMSOL, or related software.

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40-hour work week.
