• Provide technical support in health physics dosimetry to help monitor workers for radiation exposure.
• Perform dose calculation for internal and external dosimetry.
• Monitor exposure trends and use other radiological data to assess the performance of radiological work.
• Investigate internal and external exposures to determine the nature of potential intakes and likely causes of personnel exposures.
• Assist in the development of policies, technical bases documents, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Provide technical guidance for peers and technicians working in the TLD and bioassay administration program.
• Use computerized database systems for dose of record and help ensure proper records management practices.
• Assist with audits and assessments of programs, practices and work areas.
• Participate in the emergency response team.

• Eight or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements for this posting
• In addition, the applicant must meet DOE 0 426.2A requirements (Bachelor’s in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related experience and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE 0 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. Newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities until requirements are met.

• Health Physics/Engineering operational experience is preferred.
• Certification or progress towards certification by the American Board of Health Physics or registration by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists may be favored.
