OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is looking for a senior Electrical Engineer for our Oak Ridge, TN project office. This role supports Nuclear Services and Technology (NST) projects related to the Department of Energy (DOE) and various commercial and private clients. All client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Lead design development and production of design documents, including drawings, narratives, and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and perform reviews of fabrication and construction documents.
- Interface directly with clients by attending meetings and delivering presentations.
- Perform design reviews for compliance with electrical codes and recommend design changes.
- Coordinate project quality assurance/quality control, including independent technical reviews.
- Observe and administer fabrication and construction activities.
- Create and manage schedule and budget estimates for electrical design, fabrication, and construction aspects.
- Supervise, lead, manage, and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers.
- Problem‑solve, guide, and mentor staff, and assess performance.
- Participate in the hiring process for new electrical staff.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- At least twelve (12) years progressive experience in electrical design.
- Professional Engineering licensure required:
State of Tennessee PE (or ability to obtain a TN license). - Experience with nuclear‑related design (NQA‑1, NRTL, etc.).
- Electrical calculations expertise (power distribution, fault‑circuit analysis, lighting, grounding).
- Prior work experience in a DOE environment.
- Working knowledge of CAD‑based design platforms.
- Familiarity with NEC, ISA, and IEEE regulatory codes.
- U.S. citizenship is required for all client projects.
- Experience with SKM or ETAP software.
