• Dimensional Acceptance Methodology:
  Develop dimensional acceptance methodologies from design drawings or CAD models utilizing Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), high-precision gages, and Numerical Control (NC) machines for various products produced or processed at the Y-12 complex.
• CMM Programming & Certification:
  Provide technical input for the development of CMM programs and deliver comprehensive dimensional certification packages to customers for final quality definition.
• Tooling & Metrology Coordination:
  Assist in designing special tooling and fixtures for the acceptance process. Coordinate with inspection areas and the Oak Ridge Metrology Center for the calibration of certified gaging, while maintaining personal inventory and control of all assigned assets.
• Process & Configuration Control:
  Develop and maintain process controls, manage configuration control of certification packages, and oversee product retest requirements as necessary.
• Estimates & Project Support:
  Prepare accurate cost estimates for customers regarding part acceptance and all associated support activities for new programs and projects.
• Performance Evaluation:
  Evaluate the performance of precision equipment to achieve and maintain the lowest possible measurement uncertainty.
• Customer Interface:
  Partner with customers to develop and validate acceptable methodologies that meet or exceed their technical specifications.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  Interface daily with multiple organizational layers, including plant-level and technical program managers, development teams, engineering, operating area inspectors, and NNSA auditors.
• Cross-Functional Coordination:
  Engage personnel across multiple organizations to coordinate and implement key projects.
• Technical Support:
  Provide technical support for projects aimed at improving performance, installing new equipment, and driving continuous process improvements.
• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
  Diagnose issues with calibration equipment, primarily coordinate measuring machines, and collaborate with skilled crafts to resolve CMM-related problems.
• Calibration & Procurement:
  Assist with machine calibration and certification. Develop technical specifications and obtain vendor quotes for replacement parts and new equipment, and attend off-site acceptance testing for CMM procurements.
• Information Security:
  Maintain strict security requirements for computer systems associated with dimensional inspection equipment.
• Daily assignments will be established based on the employee’s level of experience.
• Comprehensive training will be provided as necessary to develop the skills required to support all functions of this position.
