Payroll Tax Lead
We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented payroll tax lead to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with payroll tax regulations, overseeing tax reporting, and guiding a dedicated payroll tax team.

As the Payroll Tax Lead, you will drive process optimization, maintain regulatory accuracy, and support the company’s broader financial operations through effective payroll tax oversight.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of payroll tax operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Develop, document, and implement payroll tax policies and procedures aligned with organizational objectives.
- Ensure accurate, timely preparation and filing of all payroll tax returns, deposits, and reconciliations.
- Maintain current expertise on evolving tax laws, regulations, and agency updates; communicate impacts to internal teams as needed.
- Partner with internal departments and external advisors to manage and resolve tax audits, notices, and agency inquiries.
- Lead, mentor, and support the payroll tax team, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
- Analyze payroll tax workflows and system functionality to identify and implement process improvements.
- Prepare periodic reports for senior leadership outlining tax trends, variances, and compliance status.
- Serve as the primary internal resource for payroll tax questions, providing guidance to employees, management, and client service teams.
- Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll tax (SALT) management or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
