Position: Budget Analyst I

Description

Role: The Budget Analyst is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting financial data to support strategic budgeting and resource allocation decisions. This role evaluates accounting allocations, spending patterns, and performance trends to ensure the organization remains within budgetary policies and financial targets. The Budget Analyst provides expert recommendations to leadership based on data-driven insights and advanced financial modeling.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
:

  • Financial Monitoring & Analysis:
    Monitors and analyzes accounting allocations, expenditures, and cost trends to determine financial resources required for budget development. Tracks expenses, inventories, and budget balances to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial plans. Conducts variance analysis and measure actual financial performance against established budgets.
  • Budget Development & Forecasting:
    Prepare detailed forecasting reports, financial projections, and trend analyses to support budget planning cycles. Identifies potential financial risks or opportunities through ongoing monitoring and predictive modeling. Develops recommendations for budget allocations that align with organizational priorities and conform to established budgetary policies and limits.
  • Data Analytics & Financial Modeling:
    Utilize advanced financial modeling techniques to evaluate budget scenarios and resource impacts. Applies data analytics tools to interpret complex financial data and produce actionable insights. Improves budgeting processes through automation, enhanced data visualization, and analytical tools.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Partners with department leaders to gather budget inputs, explain variances, and support strategic decision-making. Presents financial findings, recommendations, and reports to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience:One or more years of experience in an accounting position is required. Financial institution and budgeting experience is preferred. Financial Planning systems for banks or credit unions is preferred.

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.

Other skills required:

  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or
    similar).
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, budgeting processes, and financial policies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365
