Job Summary

This role is an In-House Service/Repair Technician position, performing in-house servicing and repair of Teledyne FLIR detection instruments at an established company service center located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The technician diagnoses mechanical, hardware, software, and systems failures using established procedures, and performs maintenance, testing, and calibration of repaired products. The role also prepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and serviceability issues, and may communicate with field-based technicians for details helpful to failure diagnostics or repair, but generally without direct client contact.

This position is 40 hours per week, with occasional assigned overtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, install, repair, reassemble, operate, and maintain electronic systems and related test equipment.
  • Understand basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and board layouts.
  • Collaborate closely with technical team to resolve technical issues (work within small team dynamic).
  • Possess some knowledge of software, hardware, common ports, connectors, and cabling.
  • Understand usage of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Trace and locate cable and wiring faults with a multimeter troubleshoot.
  • Participate in ongoing internal training programs.
  • Communicate effectively & professionally with all levels and areas of the business team members.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Experience with systems integration and assembly.
  • Organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft package for Windows environment.
  • Continuous learning, flexibility, and adaptability.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with circuit analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Basic soldering and assembly skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic testing equipment, digital volt meters, and oscilloscope.
  • Problem solving and communication skills.
  • Safety awareness working with radiation sources.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP (training is available).
  • Previous experience as a Field Service/Support Technician, In House Service Repair Technician, Automotive Technician, and/or a background in electronics, with troubleshooting and repair experience on computer software.
Education Requirements
  • Technical associates degree, certification, and/or work experience relative to technical service work.
Nice-to-Have Experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in electronics, electronic maintenance, nuclear electronics, or equipment in closely related areas is desired.
