Job Opportunity - Risk Manager - Complex Capital Project (Nuclear) - Oak Ridge, TN
I'm looking for a highly experienced Risk Manager to lead an integrated risk management program on a large, complex capital project. This role will oversee risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting across engineering, procurement, and construction activities, working closely with major contractors and senior leadership to protect project objectives and drive successful execution.
This position is primarily based in Oak Ridge, TN with regular travel to their EPC partner's site and their corporate HQ.
What You’ll Be Doing- Develop and maintain an integrated risk management framework aligned with industry standards and the project management plan
- Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
- Manage and maintain the project risk register, ensuring risks are analyzed, prioritized, mitigated, and tracked to closure
- Partner with project management, contractors, safety, legal, and other stakeholders to develop mitigation and contingency strategies
- Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior leadership, highlighting trends, emerging risks, and recommended actions
- Monitor adherence to governance, regulatory, safety, security, environmental, and contractual requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Risk Management, Business, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
- 12+ years of experience in project or construction risk management, ideally on large or complex infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge of risk management standards (e.g., ISO 31000) and risk analysis tools (risk registers, Primavera Risk Analysis, SAFRAN, etc)
- Proven ability to translate risk analysis into practical, actionable mitigation strategies
- Experience supporting large-scale, regulated, or high-security projects (industrial, critical facilities, defense, energy, or similar environments)
- Familiarity with alternative delivery models (e.g., D&B, CM), risk-sharing approaches, insurance, and bonding
- Professional certifications such as CRMP, PMI-RMP, PMP, or ISO 31000 credentials are a plus
