The technician will provide hands‑on support cleaning lithium parts inside an inert glove box using hand‑held power sanding tools that abrasively remove the surface layer of oxides, markings, and contaminants. They will conduct rough sanding, debris removal and wiping of parts per applicable procedures and/or work instructions. They may be tasked to collect and enter data in logbooks or Excel spreadsheets.
They will maintain a high standard for safety and housekeeping.
The technician may also be tasked with operation of the wet chemical purification system involving dissolution of materials in water, transfers of solutions, and operations of pumps, Participates must read and follows procedures, schedules procedural steps, moves and opens containers, bags and debags parts; uses abrasive cleaning equipment, wipes parts, stages parts for sampling, collects and enters data, operates equipment in a glovebox and trains on the equipment.
Overall support of the Li Processing group is expected based on individuals’ skill set. A wide set of skills would be considered outside of lab space task. Support could include document creation/modification and other administrative activities.
Experience operating equipment in glove boxes, hazardous and radioactive materials is preferred. Familiarity with principles of chemical laboratory safety and operation are also preferred. Must be willing to work with beryllium and radiological hazards.
Technician will work a standard 40 hour work week and may need to work overtime to meet production schedules.
Position requires the ability to obtain a “Q” clearance. Medical requirements may apply.
EducationH.S. diploma or higher degree with 1-4 years relevant experience. Requires a general knowledge and understanding of specialty and associated laboratory equipment, processes, and/or systems.
Level 1: H.S. diploma or higher degree with 1 to 4 years relevant experience. Requires a general knowledge and understanding of specialty and associated laboratory equipment, processes, and/or systems.
Level 2: H.S. diploma or higher degree with 2 to 5 years relevant experience. Requires a general knowledge and understanding of specialty and associated laboratory equipment, processes, and/or systems.
Level 3: H.S. diploma or higher degree with 6 to 10 years relevant experience. Requires a general knowledge and understanding of specialty and associated laboratory equipment, processes, and/or systems.
Level 4: H.S. diploma or higher degree with 10 to 15 years relevant experience. Requires a general knowledge and understanding of specialty and associated laboratory equipment, processes, and/or systems.
