Manufacturing Test Technician

Location: Oak Ridge, TN

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Production Test Technician will perform the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of systems and sub-components needed within manufacturing that include both electronic and mechanical assemblies. The technician adheres to test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams. Tests and troubleshoots assemblies and/or final systems, and may complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.

Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment. Performs a variety of electronic, mechanical and test functions following written Standard Operating Procedures and verbal instructions as part of the manufacturing team. Good organizational and relevant computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office) are needed for maintaining production records.

Job duties will have overlap across all products produced in Oak Ridge as needed including UAS Flight & Test as well as Radiation & explosive detection test processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Testing of bare and assembled mechanical parts and electronic components following manufacturing documentation instructions, process documents, travelers, etc.
  • Perform sub-assembly and process assembly inspections.
  • Test and troubleshoot completed instruments through QA/QC processes.
  • Complete production/quality related documentation.
  • Assist Engineering with the building and testing of prototypes.
  • Perform work in accordance with quality and engineering standards.
  • Inspect and document completed assembly work.
  • Meet work quotas while conforming to quality standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area to ensure professional work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Ability to perform set-up, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to read and adhere to test specifications, methods, and procedures from blueprints, drawings, and diagrams
  • Good organizational and relevant computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office) for maintaining production records
  • Familiarity with written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ability to follow verbal instructions
  • Ability to complete production/quality related documentation accurately
  • Ability to work across multiple product lines including UAS Flight & Test and Radiation & explosive detection test processes
