Direct Support Professional; DSP

Emory Valley Center in Oak Ridge, TN supports adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live full, meaningful lives. We offer a full‑time Direct Support Professional (DSP) role with flexible 3‑day work weeks (8 am‑8 pm or 8 pm‑8 am). Compensation ranges from $16–$24 per hour ($18.75 average) with a $1,000 sign‑on bonus. • Empower independence by assisting with daily living tasks—cooking, dressing, grooming—while encouraging self‑sufficiency.
• Build meaningful connections to foster community involvement and lasting relationships.
• Advocate for individuals by monitoring physical and emotional well‑being and communicating updates to the care team through accurate documentation.
• Ensure health and safety by administering medications, following medical guidelines, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
• Implement behavior support plans to celebrate progress and encourage positive behaviors.
• Maintain organized, accurate documentation for quality care continuity.
• Guided problem‑solving to help individuals navigate challenges and promote independence.

• Successful completion of Emory Valley Center internal training (e.g., CPR, medication certification).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean 3‑year driving record.
• Background check covering employment history from age 18 to present.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and use good judgment.
• Compassionate approach to personal care.
• Comfortable working with diverse individuals.
• Basic computer and documentation proficiency.
• Capability to de‑escalate challenging situations with patience and skill.
