Completions Engineer
The Completions Engineer is a systematic detail-oriented coordinator who ensures nothing falls through the cracks during the critical transition from construction and commissioning to licensed operations. This role also provides critical support to the Commissioning Manager and Test Engineers in ensuring readiness for turnover milestones and managing punchlist items. As systems progress toward turnover from construction to commissioning and from commissioning to operations, you'll work closely with the commissioning team to track turnover prerequisites, coordinate punchlist resolution, and ensure that all documentation and evidence files are ready to support turnover decisions.
This role demands meticulous attention to detail in defining requirements and managing evidence files, a strong questioning attitude to probe whether evidence truly demonstrates readiness, and exceptional ability to influence across organizations and get things done through coordination, persistence, and relationship-building rather than formal authority. This role will be the operational readiness "system integrator"—the person working toward a comprehensive view of readiness status across all functional areas, tracking progress, asking the hard questions when evidence looks incomplete, and driving closure on the countless details that collectively demonstrate the facility is ready for NRC authorization and safe operations.
This role offers the rare opportunity to build the completions tracking program for a first-of-a-kind nuclear facility while defining the completions methodology that will be used for all future TRISO-X facilities—the work will establish the standards for readiness verification across the next generation of advanced fuel manufacturing.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
Level III:
- Requirements Definition & Evidence Framework
- Help translate readiness criteria into specific, verifiable requirements for assigned systems—supporting the breakdown of broader readiness concepts into concrete, measurable completion items with clear acceptance criteria
- Support definition of the objective evidence required to demonstrate assigned requirements are satisfied—helping identify the documentation, demonstrations, inspections, or test results needed to prove readiness
- Work with Commissioning Test Engineers to support identification of system-specific readiness requirements including equipment status verification, testing completion, punchlist resolution, documentation adequacy, and personnel qualification
- Support the Commissioning Manager and senior completions engineers in tracking turnover prerequisites for assigned systems—helping document the requirements and evidence needed for construction-to-commissioning turnover and commissioning-to-operations turnover
- Coordinate with Readiness Leads for assigned functional areas (Operations, Maintenance, QA, Nuclear Safety, Engineering, etc.) to support tracking of functional-area requirements and evidence standards
- Apply a developing questioning attitude during requirements definition—help flag vague requirements and support efforts to ensure acceptance criteria are objective and verifiable
- Evidence Gathering & Tracking
- Support department managers in assembling evidence files that document readiness through inspection reports, test results, training records, procedure approvals, calibration certificates, and other objective documentation
- Support Commissioning Test Engineers on punchlist tracking for assigned systems—help track commissioning punchlist items, coordinate resolution across organizations, and document punchlist closure in evidence files supporting turnover
- Help maintain the completions database for assigned scope—supporting the tracking system that captures requirements, current status, assigned responsible party, due date, dependencies, and links to supporting evidence
- Track assigned open readiness actions with strong attention to detail, helping ensure items are not overlooked, forgotten, or allowed to slip past their due date
- Support monitoring of turnover milestone readiness for assigned systems—helping compile visibility into which systems are…
