Postdoctoral Research Associate - Computational Radiation Protection Scientist
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security. The Environmental Sciences Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a creative individual for a postdoctoral research associate position in ORNL's Center for Radiation Protection Knowledge (CRPK). The candidate will work with experts in computational radiation dosimetry and risk assessment.
The candidate should be an independent thinker and able to participate creatively in defining and refining research directions.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will interact with a team of scientists and engineers at ORNL in a variety of projects involving internal and external dosimetry and radiation risk analysis. The CRPK provides technical assistance to U.S. federal agencies involved in development of federal guidance for radiation protection and develops many of the biokinetic and dosimetric models recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and applied by U.S. federal agencies.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist ORNL scientists involved in these efforts, to gain expertise in biokinetic and dosimetric modeling, and to assist and eventually lead in the preparation of open literature publications in these areas. Deliver ORNL's mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service. Promote equal opportunity by fostering a respectful workplace – in how we treat one another, work together, and measure success.
