General Maintenance Worker

AFO is looking for a General Maintenance Worker to work at the Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), Oak Ridge, Tennessee. To join our team of outstanding professionals,

• Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades.
• Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring basic skills and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical assistance.
• Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.
• Performs a variety of duties: as replacing cover plates, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; painting structures and equipment and furniture moves.
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
• Assists other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations. Mowing, Trimming, and Weed Control.
• Performs other tasks as necessary.

• Valid state driver’s license.
• Performs general maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
• Three years’ work experience in O&M services.
• Verbal and basic written communication skills.
• Basic working knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and painting.
• On-Call 24-7 response with the ability to respond to base emergency within 1- hour.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoors work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
• Work hours are subject to change, with overtime work as needed.
• Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclines, hand and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces, on roofs or on ladders for extended periods of time.
