Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL (Hybrid – Tuesday through Thursday onsite)
Our client is seeking an experienced Application Architect to support modernization initiatives across legacy and enterprise utility applications. This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing existing systems while helping drive migration efforts from older technologies into modern platforms such as IFS. The ideal candidate will bring strong collaboration skills, hands‑on technical expertise, and experience working within utility or engineering‑focused environments.
KeyHighlights:
- Support modernization of legacy technologies including MS Access databases and Oracle AS8 environments.
- Develop prototypes and proof‑of‑concepts for IFS and integrated enterprise systems.
- Maintain and enhance existing applications built on Oracle and MS Access databases.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross‑functional teams to ensure system interoperability and architectural integrity.
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards with multi‑source data integration capabilities.
- Enhance and automate AutoCAD tools utilizing Lisp and VBA technologies.
- Identify and resolve technical debt across both legacy and modern application environments.
Evaluate and recommend automation tools to improve efficiency and streamline repetitive processes. - Document system architectures, integrations, and technical decisions for long‑term maintainability.
- Participate in application architecture planning, code reviews, and technology evaluations.
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and migrating technologies into IFS environments.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Visual, SQL, Microsoft Access, and Oracle‑based systems.
- Experience with Asset Suite and IFS technologies preferred.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards.
- Experience integrating and supporting enterprise applications within utility or engineering‑focused environments.
- Strong understanding of software development principles, application architecture, and system integrations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD usage and installations.
- Power BI Gateway installation and maintenance experience.
- Experience integrating Adobe Pro and Nitro Pro into enterprise applications.
- 12‑month contract with strong potential for extension.
